INCREASE YOUR VISIBILITY AS A SINGLE PERSON.

There’s a saying that "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder."

Let me tell you a story.

There was a time I was single, and a lady posted her friend on her timeline. It was a photo from a prayer meeting.

I was curious. So, naturally, I slid into her inbox.

You know how it goes, you start with the salutations, create a little rapport, then eventually get to the main agenda:

“By the way, who is your friend in that photo? I’d like to get to know her.”

The lady wasn't tagged. She wasn't mentioned. Nothing could lead me to her that's why the inbox was the only way.

So I waited for the information. And waited. And waited...Still nothing came.

Then, sometime later, I came across another photo of the same lady posted by the samefriend.

Mimi huyo mbio kwa inbox!

“Kindly, who is your friend? I’d really like to get to know her.”

Again… nothing.

About a year later, I found myself back in that inbox. This time, I was finally given her name but no profile details.

So I searched for that name and compared profiles across social media. Facebook, Instagram,Twitter.

I searched everywhere I could think of still nothing.

Eventually, I gave up.

Now, to be fair, I completely understand the friend. Perhaps she was protecting her friend from a stranger. Maybe she asked her friend whether she was comfortable with her details being shared and the answer was simply:

“Hell no!”

I'm only thinking out loud because I don't know what actually happened.

But this experience taught me something about visibility.

Some people genuinely prefer private lives. They love their “my space” and that's perfectly okay.

But if you're single, you're open to meeting someone, and you don't mind being visible online, why not use that opportunity?

You don't have to turn your social media into a dating profile of course.

You don't have to post thirst traps.

You don't even have to write long captions like me.

But occasionally, let people see you.

Post a good photo.
Share something interesting and captivating about your life.
Talk about your interests.
Join communities that align with your values. There are many interactive Facebook and WhatsApp groups and some specifically for the singles.
Interact with people respectfully.

Because sometimes, the person who could be interested in you simply doesn't know you exist.

Social media has become one of the spaces where people meet, connect, become friends, and sometimes eventually fall in love.

Traditional ways of meeting people still work, the likes of church, work, friends, events, family introductions, communities and so on.

But digital spaces have also become part of the modern relationship landscape. It is a reality and a blessing we can't overlook

So, dear single person:

Don't hide yourself so well that nobody can find you.

You can be intentional about love and still be visible.

And no, I'm not saying “post a picture and your spouse will magically appear.”

I'm saying:

Give genuine people a chance to discover you.

Your future partner may not need a perfect profile.

They may simply need a way to know that you exist.
